  4. 400 gms fresh tuvar dana/lilvaa

  7. 1 tbsp white sesame seeds
  8. 8-10 green chillies
  9. 1 inch ginger
  10. Pinch Baking Soda
  11. to taste Salt
  12. 1/2 cup grated fresh coconut
  13. 1 tsp lemon juice
  14. 2 tbsp sugar
  15. For Green chutney:
  16. 1 cup chopped fresh coriander leaves
  17. 4-5 green chillies
  18. 1/2 " ginger piece
  19. 1 tsp lemon juice
  20. 1/2 tsp rock salt (sanchar powder)
  21. to taste Salt
  22. For Red Khajur chutney (Dates chutney)
  23. 100 gm red khajur (remove seeds from it)
  24. 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  25. 1/2 tsp roasted cummin seeds powder
  26. 1/2 lemon for lemon juice
  27. to taste Salt
  28. Tomato sauce as required
  29. 50 gm besan sev
  30. 50 gm spicy chanadal namkeen
  31. Curd as required
  32. For garnishing
  33. As needed Pomegranate seeds

Steps to make to make Lilvaa Canapes

  1. Wash tuvar dana/ lilvaa / fresh pigeon peas. Coarsely crushed in mixer jar. In kadhai add,heat oil. Do tadka of mustard seeds and white sesame seeds,add green chillies ginger paste, saute and add crushed tuvar mixture. Add soda bi carb salt and water, mix, cover & cook till tuvar dana are tender.
  2. Now add grated fresh coconut, sugar and lemon juice mix and off the flame. Cool the mixture at room temperature.
  3. Heat oil in kadhai,fry canapes. Store in airtight container.
  4. Mix,and add all ingredients required for green chutney in mixer jar. Grind to smooth paste,add little water to make semi thick chutney. Pressure cook deseeded khajur (dates) with water. Cool and grind it in mixer jar to smooth paste.Pour in bowl, add salt, red chilli powder, roasted cummin seeds powder, lemon juice mix and add little water to make semi-thick chutney.
  5. Keep all the ingredients required to assemble canapes.
  6. In a plate arrange fried canapes...in it add 1-1 tbsp of prepared lilvaa/ fresh tuvar dana mixture..as shown.
  7. On it pour 1 tsp green chutney in each cavity of canapes.
  8. Now pour 1 tsp red khajur chutney,on it pour 1 tsp whisked fresh curd...or you can pour only tomato sauce.(As shown in fig)
  9. Sprinkle besan sev, spicy channadal namkeen,and garnish with pomegranate seeds.
  10. Relish/Serve Delicious Lilvaa Canapes immediately.
